The Life and Times of Corporate…Life

Ahhh, the corporate life. A life many of us Americans lead. It isn’t very glamorous but it pays the bills, right? However, if you aren’t careful, you might just lose your mind in that office. There are ways to keep your sanity if you’re a nine to fiver. Let’s get into it.

I find that working out during lunch once or twice a week can help break the cycle of normality. If you can everyday, more power to you, but then you might fall right back into a boring routine. Routines are just like lifting weights. You need to keep surprising yourself and your body with new things in order to see positive results. Doing the same thing over and over results in your muscles getting used to those workouts and basically just going “Meh” every time you step in the gym. Don’t let this happen to you. A last minute decision to grab your gym bag the morning before work is a great way to keep you on your toes and break up the monotony in your day. Another thing I do to keep myself from going postal is keep my desk lively and fun. There is a ton of stuff hanging on my walls and along the side of my monitors. I’m glad I scooped some of these Groupon coupons for before I did because I saved some coin on supplies and even some snacks. I had it all delivered to the office, too. My final trick to keep a healthy mindset in the office is to keep moving. This one seems pretty obvious but I think it’s the hardest. It’s easy to slump into a chair for eight hours and not move unless it’s for coffee or the bathroom. I like to stand up at my desk to stay fresh and awake. It even helps with my overall productivity throughout the day. The boss likes seeing me standing and likes seeing me crush my weekly goals. It’s a win-win for us both. Corporate life ain’t so bad, folks.
